The University of Kelaniya, Newcastle University and the International Network of Masculinity Studies (AMSA) are delighted to invite scholars, researchers, practitioners, activists, artists, and students from around the world to participate in an international conference exploring contemporary research on men and masculinities.

Taking place at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka, from 16–18 February 2027, the conference will provide an inclusive and interdisciplinary forum for examining the diverse ways masculinities are experienced, constructed, negotiated, and contested across different social, cultural, political, historical, and geographical contexts.

At a time when questions surrounding men and masculinities and gender and sexuality more broadly are becoming increasingly significant across the globe, the conference seeks to bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines to share new ideas, develop collaborations, and advance critical scholarship on men and masculinities.

While welcoming contributions from across the world, the conference also aims to strengthen and showcase scholarship emerging from South Asia. By bringing together established and emerging researchers alongside practitioners, artists, and community organisations, the conference seeks to foster new regional and international networks and contribute to the continued development of studies of masculinities within and beyond the region.
